• Put yourself in character or an accent in your mind while speaking

  • Speak at a higher volume

  • Sing words in your head

  • Use replacement words that are easier to pronounce

  • Use starter words. I did "Beach Games" a few weeks ago and couldn't say Venice, so I put a "the" in front of it. I made the "the" as silent as possible but it enabled me to get to Venice.

  • Let people know that you're a stutterer right up front - that's half the battle - it takes the pressure off of you to speak clearly.

  • Bring a notepad when on a date. If you can't spit it out, write it, it will take the pressure off of you to speak clearly which might help you speak clearly.

  • Know in your heart, that whomever you are talking to is no better than you.

  • Get angry in your mind when speaking.

  • Laugh at it, let people make fun of it, it's fine, don't let it define you, it's something you do, it's not who you are.
